Maria José Rojas advices companies in the revision and negotiation of contracts, especially in the area of renewable energies and contracts in Chile.

 

She graduated summa cum laude in 2002 from Universidad de Chile. She obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (2010) and a Master of Law and Business from Bucerius Law School/WHU- Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany (2011).

 

She is a member of the International Bar Association (“IBA”), International Association of Boalt Alumni and registered as a foreign attorney (“ausländische Anwältin”) in the Hamburg Rechtsanwaltskammer (Hamburg Bar Association).

 

Ms. Rojas has worked as an attorney for Cariola, Diez, Pérez-Cotapos & Cia. Ltda., the second largest law firm in Chile (2005-2009). Her practiced focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and competition law. During this time, she advised and represented important clients in different industries such as the oil, sport apparel, health insurance, dairy and shipping industries. In Germany, she has gained experience working for law firms like CMS Hasche Sigle, Brödermann Jahn and Hanefeld Rechtsanwälte, where her practice was focused in the areas of Intellectual Property, Competition Law, International Private Law and International Arbitration.

 

She collaborated in the Competition Law chapter of the publication “Doing Business in Chile” published by the British Chilean Chamber of Commerce (2007), as well as with the Chilean chapter for the publication “Vertical Agreements 2009- the regulation of distribution practices in 41 jurisdictions world-wide” (2009).
